They play a crucial role in the oil industry. They are used for various applications, such as crude oil extraction, water injection, chemical transfer, drilling mud pumping, Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) pumping, among others. They operate under positive displacement, i.e. they receive a fixed volume of liquid under suction conditions, compress it (pressure increase) and expel it through the discharge nozzle.
In this equipment, the pumping of fluid is achieved by the reciprocating motion of a piston, plunger or diaphragm moving back and forth in a cylinder. As they move, they create pressure on the fluid inside the cylinder, allowing it to be transported or handled.
